Neurodiversity Paradigm: A framework developed by Dr. Nick Walker that understands neurological differences as natural human variation rather than deficits or disorders. The paradigm challenges pathology models and centers neurodivergent people as experts on their own experiences, advocating for acceptance, accommodation, and systemic change rather than attempting to "fix" or "cure" non-conforming minds.
Love as a Verb/Liberatory Practice: Concept by cultural critic and feminist theorist bell hooks, who defines love as an action requiring commitment, care, knowledge, responsibility, respect, and trust. Love is not merely feeling but deliberate practice and ethical choice. hooks positions love as a verb—a transformative force for personal and collective liberation that requires work, accountability, and willingness to confront systems of domination.
These values and guiding principles resonate with the potential of integrative arts and well-being to address the challenges of imperialist, white supremacist capitalist patriarchy (IWSCP) and create spaces for healing, liberation, and social change. They offer a holistic framework that goes beyond individual well-being to encompass collective empowerment and action.
In an attempt to connect with my local dance community, I found a dance project led by Kristine. We met during an online dance event where we were able to share our backgrounds in dance, non-profit work, and entrepreneurship. I was so excited to meet another woman of color so passionate about the arts and serving the community! As a black woman, it's always refreshing to meet likeminded women who are modern, unapologetic, informed, and committed to furthering their expertise. Kristine is a modern businesswoman who is knowledgeable, well-versed, thorough, personable, and so multi-faceted. She is a creative with the business-savvy to back it up.
Kristine came to Josephine's Place when we were going virtual for a traditional "dine-in" fundraiser. Her understanding of various software programs and graphics helped make the event a success. She is a strong writer, which I needed. Also, Kristine is self motivated; I didn't have to micromanage her. She kept me informed, was creative in her approach and followed through on assignments. Kristine came through during a time when we needed someone with her skills.
I have no doubt that Kristine will find custom solutions for her clients. She's an excellent writer and researcher and takes an innovative approach to problem solving.
Kristine worked with Arts By The People on building our grant database and writing grants. She targeted foundations and donors that fit our parameters, as well as creating new projects with other members of our artistic team. Kristine’s focus was always how to better the community and which program and funder would be best to suit that interest. I would highly recommend Kristine to anyone or any firm that is looking for someone who is dedicated, determined and detail oriented.
Kristine was a collaborative and dynamic team player. She took on each challenge presented to her with the opportunity to learn and grow. She brought a unique perspective to the table and was always willing to go the extra mile. I have missed working with her.
Kristine has written a few assignments for me and her work is well organized, she possesses strong writing skills, she covers all topics and follows instructions. She displays quality over quantity if that is what is required. I would definitely utilize her services in the future.
As an individual who has worked as a collaborator with Kristine on many different projects, I can proudly say that she is creative, professional, effective, and an absolute dream to work with. Plus, her ability to consistently produce high quality work is inspirational to say the least.
